Wellness has many aspects and each one is just as important as the other.

Dimensions of Health and Wellness

Wellness is a multidimensional term as its true meaning implies physical, emotional, spiritual, professional, intellectual, social and environmental wellbeing. Each dimension contributes to our own sense of wellbeing and quality of life, and they often overlap. At times, we may focus on some more than others, but neglecting any dimension will have adverse effects on our overall health.

Spiritual

Spiritual wellness is the ability to establish peace and harmony in our lives as we find the meaning and purpose of our existence.

Physical

Physical development promotes learning about a healthy diet and nutrition without resorting to substance use. It is about consuming foods and beverages that enhance good health as opposed to those which impair it.  Only in this manner we can go through our daily activities without fatigue, pain or stress.

Emotional

The capacity to understand and manage our feelings is more important for success than our IQ. Self-introspection helps us have a realistic assessment of limitations and cope effectively with stress. It is also the ground on which you can build intimacy. Emotional mindset is everything because the only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude so make sure you cultivate a positive one.

Professional

The career dimension recognizes personal satisfaction and enrichment in life through  the work you do. Your job and chosen career need to be a source of fulfillment and the place where you express your potential.

Intellectual

Just like the body needs exercise, the mind needs stimulating activities by expands hisor her knowledge and skills. The intellectual abundance is also about sharing your gifts with others. It motivates us to seek challenges in pursuit of lifelong learning.

It is the ability to recognize personal responsibility for the quality of the air, water and land. We need to realize we have the ability to make a positive impact on the quality of life on the planet while understanding the consequences of negative personal choices to environmental wellness.

Social

Social wellness is the ability to relate to and connect with other people in the world

The social dimension encourages one to become aware of his or her importance in society. If you are think that one person is too small to make a difference, try going to bed with a mosquito and you will change your mind.

Key Factors for Good Health

Very often, maintaining a healthy lifestyle feels like an overwhelming challenge that cannot be integrated within the reality of our everyday daily life. With a full-time job, it’s tough to take the time to eat well, exercise regularly, make celery juice every morning, spend quality time with your family and your partner, and meditate every day. But as the saying goes, if you don’t have the time to meditate five minutes each day, you should meditate for an hour. The point of this saying is that good health needs to be your priority. Here are a few simple things you can seamlessly incorporate in your daily routine.

Eat well

Start with making half of your plate veggies. Eat real food which is something your grandmother would recognize. Aim to eat a rainbow of colors every day.

117 million American adults have one or more preventable chronic diseases, many of which are related to poor quality eating patterns. Drink a glass of water for every cup of coffee or alcohol you take, additionally to your daily 2l intake.

Establish an exercise routine

A walk around the block is better than no walk at all. Start with taking the stars and get a tracker to track your steps. While working, stand up, stretch and move every half an hour. Our bodies are designed to move and not for a sedentary lifestyle. Everyone knows that exercise is good for us because it not only keeps chronic conditions at bay and combats health conditions but it helps control weight, improves mood, boosts energy, promotes sleep, allows us to enjoy physical intimacy and overall, provides us with an enjoyable experience. All you have to do is find a program that works for you and that is beyond easy with so many different online courses. Getting a physical therapist who can create a program for you will also help you avoid the consequences of poor posture which are back pain, neck pain, headaches, fatigue, circulation and arthritis, among others.

Don’t forget to rest

Good sleep begins in your bedroom so invest in good pillows and comfy sheets. Use heavy blackout curtains which help to block out lights, tune down noise and protect your home from outside temperatures. Besides ensuring your room feels comfortable, they can also help save money on your Eversource utility bill through lowered heating and cooling costs as your HVAC or AC won’t have to work that hard to maintain the desired temperature. In today’s modern world, rest often takes the backseat when we are short on time but sacrificing sleep can cause long-term health problems.

Make time for some ‘me’ time

Spending regular time alone helps to get to know and stay in touch with yourself because no one is the person they were 10 years ago as we are all constantly growing, literally and hopefully, as a person. Take the time to do the things you enjoy, whether that’s baking, gardening, meditating or sunbathing. Just like your phone, you need to recharge your batteries every once in a while.

Takeaway – You need to be in good health and feel good in order to be able to share your talents with the world. At the end of the day, this is what we came here to do and this is our only responsibility in life, to leave the world better than we found it. Remember, doing just a bit is better than not doing anything at all.
