Signs Your Relationship is Struggling: What You Can Do

Elderly People

A struggling relationship can be easy to spot when you are not directly involved in said relationship. You might have to look for signs your relationship might not be on the right course. Luckily, you can likely improve or save your relationship by addressing the problems. Both parties will likely have to compromise or put in more of an effort. The following are signs your relationship is struggling and what you can do to help.

Intimacy Has Started To Decline

Intimacy might decline after you have been together for years. Keeping a spice in the relationship might change over time as you age. You might need to be more proactive about initiating intimacy or hedge your bets with something like boudoir photography. Taking intimate photos to give as a gift can be exactly what your relationship needs. Communication in this area can be very important and there are even counseling sessions you can attend to help.

Small Issues Turn Into Large Fights

Communication is going to be important in every relationship as talking out problems is essential. The last thing you want is anger building up due to the refusal to address what is bothering one party. Small issues turning into big fights are likely due to a much larger problem that has its roots in a lack of communication.

You should address your issues when you are calm rather than pumping yourself up for an argument. You don’t want to be in a relationship where one party thrives on drama. Some couples do this together as it always seems like they are breaking up then making up.

Suspected Infidelity

Infidelity can come up in any marriage it seems like where one party is not happy. Cheating comes in so many forms that a person might not have to meet a person physically to cheat. You might suspect that your partner is cheating due to the thought arising in your mind. Being as honest as you can about a suspected affair to a partner can bring out the truth or show you that you have nothing to worry about.

Growing Apart

People that have been together for years might feel like they are growing apart. Finding something that you can both do that you enjoy can be amazing. A couple that enjoys the gym together or going fishing/hunting has common ground. You might have to find something you both like to do together as you cannot participate in your old interests as you did in the past. Sitting down to truly talk about your day instead of replying in one sentence about how awful it was is also important. You want to understand how your partner is feeling as this can impact how you treat them. A sensitive partner when you are having a rough time at work or personally can be a saving grace.

Not all relationships are meant to continue which is something you need to consider. If you have been in a relationship for a few months and all of these signs are present, you should run!
