Incorporating AI into the Workplace

AI prompt engineering

One of the most pressing skills for IT professionals in the modern day is prompt engineering. Prompt engineering is both the art and science behind communicating instructions to generative AI to ensure the tasks are carried out as efficiently and accurately as possible. It is important to be extremely clear when defining a set of instructions, to avoid multiple iterations. There are several methods to ensure clarity of the prompt engineering, including chain of thought, chain of symbol, generated knowledge prompting, and least to most prompting. New methods extend even to non-text options such as images and videos.

Unfortunately, most IT professionals are currently not very comfortable with generative AI prompt engineering. Only 12% have the skills to perform prompt engineering effectively, meaning there is a large skill gap facing the workforce. 72% of leaders believe that these skill gaps must be urgently addressed if their organizations are going to thrive under the AI revolution. Thankfully there are online, skill-based certificate courses that are designed to upskill and reskill IT professionals at an advanced level in as little as 6 to 8 weeks. There are modules currently offered for financial management, marketing, and Excel, with many more to come.  See more from YU Global below:
