If your face flushes more often and more deeply than usual,
you might have the chronic skin condition called rosacea. Rosacea commonly
affects adults between the ages of 30 and 60 years old, and it’s more common in
those who are light-haired and fair-skinned, as well as women during menopause.
“We don’t really know what causes
the inflammation of the skin capillaries,” says Sean Robinson, PA-C, of Park
Avenue Dermatology in
OrangePark, “but we do know
that there is a genetic component and rosacea is hereditary.”
Common
symptoms of rosacea are redness in the center of cheeks, the nose, and between
the eyebrows. Face flushing that occurs often and fine red bumps are also
symptoms. “Men with rosacea will often have the symptom of a bulbous nose as
well,” says Robison.
We all know what acne looks like, but do you
actually know what acne is?
Acne is caused by an overproduction of sebum and the overabundance of blocked
pores, which means that the sebum has nowhere to release naturally. When the
sebaceous glands get blocked, a pimple pops up due to the inflammation. Oily
skin is more prone to blockages, which is why people with oily skin generally
have more acne. This also explains why people commonly get acne on their faces,
upper chest, and back; these parts of the body have more sebaceous follicles
and are more prone to getting oily.
Why are adolescents most prone to acne? Male sex hormones are responsible for triggering the sebaceous gland, and
during male and female adolescence, the male sex hormone goes a bit haywire.
There is nothing worse than an outbreak of
pimples a few days before a big event such as your wedding, the prom, or that
first big date with someone you have always wanted to go out with. You go to
sleep one night and the next morning there they are – a few red blemishes that
you know are going to grow into ugly red bumps crowned with a little with
pustule.
Where did they come from and how can you get rid of those pimples quickly?
Pimples are a product of a bacterium that lives a normal peaceful life on the
surface of your skin. Its name is Propionibacterium acnes.
Today’s women, more than ever, are
trying diligently to rejuvenate their youthful appearance, to suspend the
evidence of time. Rampant fear of growing old and wrinkled keeps us in a
constant search for the perfect anti aging product, one that will take us to
the fountain of youth.
The good news is that there is a
product called Pearl Powder, an Ancient Chinese beauty secret that has been
used for over 3000 years for lustrous, pure, beautiful skin...a treasure that
was used for centuries by Asians, Egyptians, Chinese, Mayans and Indians for
health and youthful vitality, as well as for beautifying the skin. It is renowned
for fighting wrinkles and the signs of aging.
Acne,
pimples or “zits” as many sufferers call it, can be a real cause for depression. It is the most
common of all skin diseases with around 17 million people in the
USA alone
afflicted with an acne problem. The official term, Acne Vulgaris, describes a
condition whereby the sebaceous glands of the skin become inflamed. If proper
acne treatment is not sought these may develop into unsightly pustular cysts, and
the end result may be permanent acne scars.
The
causes of acne are varied and may include hormonal activity, stress,
accumulation of dead skin cells and allergy to bacteria which are present in
the pores of the skin. Sometimes it is a reaction to anabolic steroids and
medication containing halogens, lithium, barbiturates or androgens. Some
research suggests a role for food allergy in the development of acne, which
implies the elimination of trigger foods could be helpful in the treatment of
acne.
