Salsa Verde

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces (3 to 4 medium) tomatillos, husked and rinsed
  • Fresh hot chilies to taste. (1 or 2 serranos or 1 jalapeno), stemmed
  • 2 large garlic cloves, peeled
  • 6 sprigs of fresh cilantro (thick bottom stems cut off), roughly chopped
  • 1 small white onion, finely chopped
  • Salt

Butterfly gardens are becoming more popular – not just large ones, such as those at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and Tree Hill Nature Center, but also in residential yards.

You don’t need a lot of space to have a butterfly garden. Areas as small as a couple of square yards with a few flowering plants, including nectar plants such as milkweed, make a fine garden.

If someone is having a stroke, every second counts in order to save them.  But strokes can be tricky to diagnose.  Use this acronym to help you identify a stroke in process.  Once you have recognized a stroke, be sure to check the time and call 911. Minutes can save lives!

Want to start running, but are intimidated by the process? Here are some tips to get you going!

Baby Steps:  Start with just walking. Begin with a 30-40 minute walk at a fast pace three times a week for one week. Then up it to four times a week at 35-45 minutes.

Walk/Run: Walk for ten minutes, jog for one minute. Walk for 2 minutes, jog for 1 minute. Do this activity for 10-15 minutes, then do a 10 minute walk to cool down. Do this for two weeks, or longer until the jogging becomes easy.
